About Us
trueno studio
Trueno Studio offers interior (residential and commercial) and garden design services and consultation across the UK and beyond. As designers, our work can be virtual and remote, hence we are able to design anywhere in the world.
Trueno is headed by Creative Director, Belen Dakak. Belen hails from Salta, Argentina though she is also UK and European trained. She obtained her RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture in England and BA (Hons) in Interior Design and Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Design from Barcelona.
Belen has over 10 years of experience in Interior Architecture and Design and has worked for a number of luxury brands in London including Estee Lauder and John Lewis as a retail, store designer.
At Trueno, we aim to create designs that are tailored to the client’s needs and respond to brand requirements with the user and client at the core. Belen’s style is contemporary yet sustainable and traditional. Belen likes to incorporate craftsmanship creations and locally sourced materials, wherever possible.
Our garden design projects and planting style is densely-prairie preferred, taking into consideration the surrounding natural landscape and the need to be sustainable and eco-friendly.
If you are looking to create and/or renovate any interior or exterior space, whether residential or commercial, and wish to enlist our design expertise, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
Our On-site
Process
our aim
Beauty, Sustainability, Craftmanship
To create beautiful spaces that reflects each client’s needs whilst supporting sustainability and championing local suppliers and craftsmen.
initial meeting
The journey starts with a design consultation call where we begin to understand your overall objectives and end goal for your home or garden, making sure we include any specific requirements. It would therefore be helpful if you could prepare for this meeting in terms of your own ideas and what you would like to achieve from the design of the space. This initial meeting is important as it allows us to get a feel of the space we are working with in order to start on the design brief. During this meeting, we will take you through our design process. We will then email you with a Design Fee Proposal and a written preliminary design brief for your approval. If necessary we can do a site visit too.
The design fee depends on many factors, and is mainly based on the design time, which is influenced by the complexity of the design brief, as well as the size of the space. Once you have approved the summary of the design brief and design fee proposal, then we can move onto the next step.
conceptual design
Based on the approved design brief, we will develop floor plans and spatial layouts , choose finishes and develop the project style. Our conceptual design will include key mood boards, concept imagery and 2D plans to provide an insight into the visual direction of the design we are working towards. We will begin shortlisting on FF&A items (Furniture, Fixtures & Accessories) such as fabric, furniture and lighting for the space.
We will agree a fixed number of included revisions at the start of the design, depending on the complexity of the project.
DETAILED PROPOSAL AND BUDGET
Once the initial outline plan has been agreed, it is then developed further by adding another layer of detail to the design. At this refinement stage, we will begin to specify key finishes and materials for flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, lighting, furniture and soft furnishings.
We utilise extensive residential and commercial industry knowledge to inform the correct specification, with budget, usability and implementation in mind.
technical drawings and details
At this stage, we develop the plan further by adding another layer of detail to the design. We prepare and co-ordinate a fully detailed technical construction/detailing pack for the project. We can include detailed finishes schedules and FF&E specification for the project, and joinery drawings, electrical and sanitary requirements, where required.
For garden designs, we may include planting design details, material details such as paving detail, and architectural drawings/ sketches for constructed elements.
project handover for completion
We review the design proposals with the contractor once appointed, and advise on any special elements to the project. We work closely with other team members on site to achieve the successful implementation of the design. Alongside this, we manage the FF&E supply chain and all relevant installation/commissioning.
We carry out inspection upon completion of implementation to ensure it is in line with the design project and ensure client satisfaction upon on-site handover and project completion sign-off.

Interior
We have designed this project for a new home with a tight budget brief as a package that would allow the client to purchase all the items herself following our instructions, advice and consultation. She and her husband were extremely happy with the result.
.
The chosen style is Eclectic, modern but cosy. The colour palette and texture combination selected reflects the Cornish seaside landscape. Muted browns, soothing blues and eye catching amber details.

Garden
This project in St Austell was inspired by the Cornish landscape. The planting selection for the borders is abundant and consists on existing Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Camelias with other unique species like Tamarix and Eucryphia.
I have really enjoyed putting together the different plant combinations according to colour, texture but most importantly location and thinking to create interest in the garden all year round.
